Prisms

What did you see smiling man?

You exuded assurance

What were you sure of?

Which of my many faces did you see?

Which part of my prism did you gaze into?

Did you see Ska’di, Goddess of Winter?

Swathed in furs and armor, she journeyed from Thrym’heim

To visit Niörd, her God of Summer.

We dined in Asgard talking of many things.

Did you see her in my eyes?

Did you hear her in my voice?

She would spirit you to her land of fiery ice.

Would you keep her in the land of icy fire?

Or did you see the outcast?

Wounded by lies and gossip.

Have you heard it?

Others have abandoned me.

Did you know?

Did you see the wounds?

Or did you see the warrior?

Strong and determined in the face of conflict

I am the rock others cling to when chaos threatens.

Did you see my strength?

Do you need it?

Do you wonder that both live within me?

Or did you see the Healer?

You admired me once as I hung from the neck

Of the woman you barely know.

I watched you across the table.

You had so much to say, and so little time.

Your shadow danced about the room, defiant,

Raising specters of fear and doubt, it only threatens you.

Concealment is futile and I would embrace it.

For it is part of your prism.

Will you let me?

Do you fear my embrace of your shadow?

For you called me friend as if you meant it

And spoke as if my words mattered.

Do you know the True Friend?

Do you know the Anam Cara?

Who listens and questions?

I am the Truthsayer

Who holds you forever in her heart.

No matter the grief, no matter the pain

This one always stands with you.

She is here too.

Did you see her?

They are all in me and more

Which one did you see?

Which one would you wish to see?

Could you hold them all in your heart?

For the one spirit who holds us all and lives within all

Knows our many facets and sees the whole prism.

I would show you my prism

Would you dare to show me yours?
