Tarot-The Emperor
Masculine energy is the beginning of the meaning
of this card. It is reason, planning, persistence, the conscious mind. The
Emperor is a magi come to the fulfillment of his work and study. Often a
professional man; doctor, lawyer, politician. He has gained his position
through practical, methodical and planned effort. Generally envisioned as an
older gentleman he holds the orb and scepter of a ruler.
Aries and the Sun rule this card. The ram's heads
adorning his throne in many decks symbolize this. As an Arian he is stubborn,
willful, determined, hard working, earthy, methodical and focused. The Sun
gives him the power to shine on his own terms, from his own efforts, by his
own decisions and tends to be somewhat self centered.
Usually this is a married man, confident from
having made his way successfully in the world he is capable of great loving
but also of a nature that allows him to be judge of all around him.
As the number 4 in the Tarot deck he manifests
abundance but requires intelligent evaluation and courage to logically deduce
the proper method of working toward a goal.
Stable, fair, discerning but also apparently
reserved the Emperor is noble, chivalrous, kind, capable of great loving and
at times judgmental. Here is the elegant refined gentleman of romantic lore
who has won his battles, survived the intense lessons of life and succeeded
through any and all challenges presented to become the true Hero.
